Carl Rees brings to ASEC over 20 years’ experience in the security industry and has a diverse background in customer service. Prior to establishing ASEC, Carl worked extensively in the Sales & Marketing and the Security Industry and continues to uphold an active role in the Security Industry. Carl’s passion is to educate people to a high standard so they have the opportunity to achieve their dreams. Carl believes the way to change is through education and the only way to do this is with genuine education to the students so they can develop themselves and in turn they will develop Australia for our future.
Norma Ann Rees – Sales and Marketing Manager
Norma has a proven background in customer service relations and has 20 years’ experience in running her own company. Norma is the frontline person for ASEC. You will see Norma helping and encouraging students to further their education through our courses and providing assistance to ensure students obtain a successful career in the Security Industry. Tracey Ann Cowley – Business Operations Manager
Tracey joins ASEC following 9 years in various Government roles, predominately in Human Resources and Training. Tracey’s role at ASEC is the operations of the business. Tracey has completed a Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management/Management). Tracey is extremely passionate about her work and the benefits of GREAT training. She also enjoys assisting individuals on their career path and has an interest in organisation and business behaviour. Tracey is inspired by her family, in particular her three girls, and those who dare to dream and achieve!

Jim Hoffmann – Trainer
Jim hasa combined total of 28 years operational service and experience, firstly in the Australian Army, culminating in serving as an Ammunition Technician (AT No: 369),and Australian Protective Service (APS)/ Australian Federal Police (AFP).
Whilst serving with the APS/ AFP, Jim gained extensive operational experience in the field of Aviation, serving as a Senior Protective Service Officer (SPSO) in the Counter Terrorist First Response (CTFR) role, and served both as an operational Bomb Appraisal Officer (BAO), and a Trainer/ Assessor within the AFP BAO management team.
Prior to joining the team at ASEC, Jim had worked in the private security industry as Team Leader Security Operations and Guarding at a major Defence site. His responsibilities were inclusive of, but not limited to- Standard Operating Procedures, Regulatory conformance and adherence, Specific training delivery in areas such as Command and Control re Incident resolution, dealing with unattended items, Incident recording and reporting, and managing the Supervisors and teams that deliver frontline security services, heavily promoting situational and operational awareness to complement Officer safety.
His major qualifications are:

- Advanced Certificate in Explosives handling and Management (Ammunition Technician-Army)

In conclusion, Jim would like to declare he is an ardent AFL follower, and is brave enough to admit to being a long term Carlton supporter.
Geoff Bartley – Trainer & ASEC development
Geoff joined the ASEC team in February 2014. Geoff brings to ASEC 25 years of management experience in Sales and Marketing and a keen interest in all sports, particularly AFL.
Geoff manages the ASEC trainee program, assists in delivering Security and RSA courses and is involved in writing and the further development of ASEC training. Geoff is currently working on increasing the scope of training delivered by ASEC.
Geoff has a Certificate II in Security Operations, Certificate III in Security Operations and holds a Security Trainers Licence. Geoff also has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment including the Language Literacy and Numeracy unit.

Andrew Simpson – Trainer
Andrew’s speciality and passion is Workplace Safety. He has over 30 years of experience in the field and is well qualified practically and academically.
His range of experience covers the provision of both practical and administrative services in Basic, Remote and Advanced Life Support, Workplace Safety Representation, Workplace Safety Officer/Trainer. This experience has been gained and applied through various health related volunteer groups, the public, private, retail, industrial and self-employment sectors.
Andrew provides input to the development of our courses and has also managed to combine his hobby of Heritage Railways with his skill set and is the Railway Safety Manager for a Heritage Railway.
